Meet the Tailor
The name Two Cat Tailoring is inspired by none other than my two grey – and great! – cats: Mishka (the prince) and Blue (the rascal). I love my cats like I love sewing. They distract me from everything trivial and important alike.
I moved to Maine ten years ago to study physics because I loved the practicality and the problem solving involved in the subject. But I quickly began to miss creativity, and half-way through my studies I found myself craving art. I started a number of hobbies that I was bad at: drawing, knitting, pottery – you name it! Sewing was the one that stuck, I think because making a pattern or altering a garment in some ways feels like solving an equation.
After many years of working jobs that (annoyingly) only distracted me from my sewing projects, I decided to pursue sewing as a career. I attended the intensive Common Threads of Maine sewing program and, shortly after, began working one-on-one with a master tailor in Portland, Maine. Here, I learned the trade of clothing alterations and mending. Nowadays my two cats sit by my side (not literally because they are not allowed near my thread!) and I sew all day. The perfect life! Book an appointment and come say hello!
