FAQ

Do I have to make an appointment? In general, yes. Walk-ins won't be turned away when the shop is slow, but on busy days you will be asked to make an appointment for another time. All appointments are made here on the website under the "Book an Appointment" section. (Not by telephone, please).

Do you work on wedding dresses? No. While Two Cat Tailoring does work on formal gowns (prom, mother of the bride, bridesmaid, etc.), we do not work on wedding dresses. We recommend reaching out to Something Altered or Hem and Veil for any wedding dress alterations.

Do you work on non-clothing items? Nope, sorry! Only clothing alterations/mending. We do not hem curtains, replace zippers on purses, reupholster chairs, etc.

How much would it cost to do "so and so" to my garment? Check out our "Services & Prices" page to get an idea of cost. If the services you need fall outside of this category, please understand we can't provide estimates by phone or email. We will need to assess the garment in person at your appointment.

Why do the alterations cost more than the garment? Yes, sometimes this happens! Especially with thrifted or fast-fashion items. Two Cat Tailoring is not a factory pumping out the same pair of jeans over and over again. Alterations vary and are customized to the individual; they require time both to deconstruct and then to reconstruct your garment. We are a small business that has the professional skills and knowledge not only to sew your clothes, but also to analyze them and find the unique solutions required to get you that perfect fit. Our prices are based on market rates, and reflect what is needed to both run the business and provide a living wage.

Can you make me custom garments? No. We are strictly a clothing alterations and mending business and will not take on any garment construction orders or commissions.

Why does it take 2-4 weeks for my clothes to be ready? Clothing alterations take time and operate on a queue. Nowadays, we are used to services being quick (think Amazon Prime!). But this work is slow and precise, and we will never compromise quality for speed. Please be patient with us, we promise it's worth the wait! :)

Do I pay when I drop the clothes off or pick them up? We collect payment when you drop off the garment. However, we're always happy to split the payment in two if you'd prefer paying half at drop off and half at pick up. For larger orders, we usually offer this option upfront.

I paid for alterations and then changed my mind! Can I have a refund?Alterations work is normally non-refundable once a fitting has been completed, as pricing includes the fitting time, reserves the time we take to work on the clothes, and takes into account any materials we may have ordered with your specific project in mind. However, if you call within 24 hours, we can offer a refund at 85% of the original payment so long as work has not yet been started.
